Things to Know Before You Remodel Your Bath in NashvilleWe all dream of our perfect bathroom. We do not always know where to begin when starting a bathroom remodel. Following are 5 things to consider when planning to remodel your bathroom.

1. Mr.Budget

Get ready to get to know Mr. Budget a lot better. You may not like him, but you have to live with him or pay the consequences. According to the National Kitchen and Bath Association, the average cost of a bathroom renovation is about $16,000. This includes labor and materials. Be realistic within your set budget. First decide how much budget you can allocate to the project before you even begin planning it out, and then make a list of what you need in your bathroom versus what you would like in your bathroom and weigh your decisions against these 2 lists.

2. Size
The foot print of the bathroom is going to dictate how your bathroom looks. You may have all these ideas of what you want in a bathroom, but if your measurements do not add up, then you want to consider adding space by taking space away from another area. If that is not possible or too expensive for your budget, then you may want to reconsider the size of the project and be open to scaling back, if necessary.

3. Tradesmen
When considering who to hire to transform your space, make sure to interview multiple tradesmen for the job. Just because someone gives you the cheapest price does not mean they will do a good job. You want someone who will be upfront in the cost and know what they are doing. Always have a licensed plumber and electrician and check their customer reviews.

4. Permits
Be informed, go down to city hall and ask what permits are required. If  the records say you are required to acquire a permit and your tradesman says that permits are not necessary, then do not hire them!

5. Design
If you do not know what you want, you can get some great ideas on Pinterest by searching for bathroom images, or visit a home improvement website online such as HGTV.com. And if your budget allows, do not be afraid to hire a designer. Make sure whatever you decide on that you will still be happy with it about 10 years down the road. If you have an ever changing style, choose colors that go well with anything, and change the paint color when ever you want to, as well!
